MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR, Calif. -- The Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing public affairs office is scheduled to host local media for a media day at MCAS Miramar, California, July 29 from 8 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The media day will provide an exclusive, inside look at MCAS Miramar and 3rd MAW operations as well as highlight the phenomenal efforts of the Marines and Sailors.
Several events are scheduled for the media day. Scheduled events include a static display of nearly every aircraft within 3rd MAW, an opportunity to interview pilots and maintainers for all aircraft on display, access for footage of aviation operations, an opportunity to see Marines engage in small-unit leadership training, an inside look at Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 373, and a media panel with subject matter experts to speak about 3rd MAW operations, medical readiness, MCAS Miramar’s water and energy conservation efforts, and airfield operations.
The F-35B Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter is scheduled to arrive at MCAS Miramar in the morning, with a potential opportunity for footage of its arrival, as well as a chance to interview the F-35B pilot.
The 3rd MAW commanding general, Maj. Gen. Mike Rocco, and the MCAS Miramar commanding officer, Col. John Farnam, are also scheduled to provide remarks to the media.

-KC-130 Super Hercules
-CH-53E Super Stallion
-MV-22B Osprey
-UH-1Y Huey
-AH-1Z Super Cobra
Media is encouraged to bring food to eat throughout the day as no lunch break is scheduled due to the full schedule of events.
