Dr. Edith E. Eger, a Holocaust survivor and post-traumatic stress disorder psychologist, enters the stage with her grandson Jordan Engle and U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Alejandro Garcia Jr., the sergeant major of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, to start her talk about her experiences in Auschwitz in the Bob Hope Theater at MCAS Miramar, California, Aug. 27, 2025. Audience members asked Eger questions regarding her book, “The Choice.” Eger then described her experiences surviving Auschwitz and rebuilding her life and expressed gratitude for the role of the U.S. armed forces in liberating the camp.
