MCAS Miramar and Naval Facilities Engineering Command have awarded an installation microgrid project to Schneider Electric and Black and Veatch as a joint venture. The project will utilize renewable energy to provide redundant power in the event of a local grid failure. “Having the ability to fully operate ensures we’re all about mission and making sure the young men and women who decided to serve their country can do what they came to do, and thats to train,” said Col. Jason Woodworth. Once fully operational, the microgrid will provide energy resiliency to the air station and allow operations at mission-critical facilities to continue if the utility San Diego area power grid is compromised or damaged.
