FY16036 - Update: 3d MAW Helicopter Makes Precautionary Landing

An MV-22 Osprey with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 166, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, executed a precautionary landing approximately 30 miles east of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California,

in the vicinity of Pine Valley, California. The aircraft was conducting routine training, and the pilots landed the aircraft safely without injuries to personnel or damage to any civilian property or infrastructure.

The precautionary landing was executed due to aircraft instruments indicating a potential maintenance issue. Recovery operations are underway, and the aircraft is expected to remain overnight.
