Lieutenant Colonel Michael W. White

Lt. Col. White is a native of Orange, Texas, and earned a bachelor of science in mathematics from the United States Naval Academy. He commissioned as a second lieutenant where he completed initial training at The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia. He was assigned to field artillery officer course in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and earned the designation as class master gunner and the field artillery officer MOS. In July 2005, Lt. Col. White received orders to 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines in Camp Pendleton, California where he served as the artillery liaison officer for Battery K.

In November, 2005, he executed orders to 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines and deployed to Japan as part of the 31st MEU’s Battalion Landing Team, serving as the artillery liaison officer, fire direction officer, and 81mm mortar platoon commander. He deployed again in February 2007 to Ramadi, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and served as the battalion fire support coordinator, information operations officer, civil affairs officer, and Headquarters and Service Company executive officer. Lt. Col. White received follow on orders to 1st ANGLICO in Camp Pendleton, California, where he served as the assistant operations officer and fire control power team leader from January 2008 to March 2009. During this time, he earned his designation as a joint terminal attack controller and was selected on the FY09 Field Accession Board to become a naval aviator.

He completed the naval aviator training syllabus and earned his wings in October of 2011. Lt. Col. White completed initial AV-8B Harrier training with the “Hawks” of VMAT-203 in MCAS Cherry Point in 2012, and reported to the “Tigers” of VMA-542. While with the Tigers, he served as the daily and weekly operations scheduling officer, assistant operations officer, operations officer, and aviation maintenance officer. During this tour he completed two deployments, both to Japan, in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, in 2014 and 2016.

In June 2017, Lt. Col. White again joined the “Hawks” of VMAT-203 to serve as the aviation maintenance officer and executive officer. While with VMAT-203, he was certified as a low-altitude tactics instructor, MAG-14 functional check flight standards officer; early, late-stage familiarization flight instructor and completed Air Force Distance Command and Staff College. While at VMAT-203, he executed 11 total deployments for training and uurricane evacuations.

From 2020-2022, Lt. Col. White was assigned to OPNAV N98 in the Pentagon where he served as an F-35 requirements officer for the Navy. While at OPNAV he was responsible for coordinating funding, requirements, and balancing warfighter inputs on the Joint Strike Fighter program of record.

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two Gold Stars, Army Commendation Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
