FY17018 - MCAS Miramar Microgrid Groundbreaking Ceremony
26 Sep 2017

MCAS Miramar is scheduled to break ground on a new microgrid project at 2 p.m, Sept. 28.

MCAS Miramar and Naval Facilities Engineering Command have awarded an installation microgrid project to Schneider Electric and Black and Veatch as a joint venture. The project will utilize renewable energy to provide redundant power in the event of a local grid failure. Once fully operational, the microgrid will provide energy resiliency to the air station and allow operations at mission-critical facilities to continue if the utility power grid is compromised or damaged. Click here for a full project description.

The event will include a groundbreaking ceremony and remarks made by MCAS Miramar Commanding Officer, Colonel Jason Woodworth.

For media interested in attending the event, please send RSVPs to miramarmedia@usmc.mil by 12 p.m., Sept. 27.
