Twenty Marines with Marine Corps Air Station Miramar’s Single Marine Program volunteered to help complete the Stem-to-Stern PB & J challenge aboard the USS Midway Museum in San Diego, California, April 2.

The Marines competed with 20 local Sailors to make the world’s longest peanut butter and jelly sandwich made on a military vessel.

“It’s important for Marines to participate in events like this because it gives them opportunities for personal growth and experience by allowing the Marines to network,” said Katie Weeres, an SMP coordinator with MCAS Miramar and a Torrance, California, native.

After the competition, service members, employees and members of the San Diego community enjoyed the 301-footlong sandwich with milk.
